Minimum Expectations for PKP (Alpha Psi) House Residents

  • Academic Performance
    – All residents must maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA each semester.
    – Failure to meet this standard may result in additional academic support requirements
    pending review and potential accommodation for individual residents.
  • Community Service
    – Each resident is expected to complete a minimum of 2 hours of community service per
    semester.
    – Service hours must be reported and verified through the chapter’s House Director in their
    capacity as live-in advisor in conjunction with the undergraduate chapter’s Philanthropy
    and/or Community Service Chairmen.
  • Conduct and Respect
    – All residents are expected to conduct themselves with respect, maturity, and
    responsibility at all times.
    – This includes treating fellow members, guests, and staff and most certainly the House
    Director with dignity and maintaining a culture of inclusivity and brotherhood.
    – Destructive, disrespectful, disruptive or indecent behavior will not be tolerated and can
    result in immediate eviction.
    – All residents must abide by the Constitution and By-laws of the undergraduate Chapter,
    the Supreme Laws of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, the Federal, State and local laws, the
    housing contract and the rules and regulations of the housing corporation, the IU Office of
    Sorority and Fraternity Live (OSFL), and Indiana University.

  • Respect for Property
    – Residents are responsible for preserving the physical integrity of the house, furnishings,
    exterior and all interior spaces.
    – Damage due to negligence, carelessness, or vandalism will result in financial restitution
    and potential disciplinary action in accordance with the housing contract.
  • Courtesy Hours
    Courtesy Hours apply 24/7 throughout the chapter house and grounds.
    This means members are expected to:
    1.    Keep noise at a reasonable level at all times—both indoors and outdoors.
    2.    Respect that some members may have different schedules, including early
    classes, study time, or work commitments.
  • Quiet Hours
    To align with city ordinances and our commitment to academics, Quiet Hours are
    as follows:
    1.    Outside Noise: Must be in accordance with the Bloomington City Noise
    Ordinance.
    2.    Inside the Chapter House: Quiet Hours will be enforced on the main, 2nd
    and 3rd floors beginning at midnight to 6am Sunday through Wednesday.
    Thursday through Saturday, during a registered social event with IU OSFL,
    quiet hours are to be in line with OSFL policy and guidelines.
    General quite hours guidelines:
    1. No loud music in rooms or hallways.
    2. Activities should not interfere with members who are
    studying, sleeping, or relaxing.
  • Why This Matters
    1. Creates an atmosphere conducive to studying and rest in support of health and
    overall wellbeing.
    2. Supports our chapter’s academic performance goals.
    3. Reinforces respect for all individuals residing or visiting the property and/or
    facility.
    4. Helps prevent damage and disruptive behavior tied to excessive noise or late-night
    parties.
